Capabilities

Two disciplines. One shop floor.

Motobrix and Root 2 Engineering operate as a single elite operation: the motorcycle fabrication arm and the architectural engineering arm share the same jigs, the same welders and the same obsessive tolerances.

Custom Fabrication & Parts

Ground-up custom motorcycles and one-off componentry — frames, tanks, seat pans, exhaust systems and brackets fabricated in steel, aluminium and stainless.

Every part starts as raw stock. Tube is notched and fixtured on a jig, hand-formed panels are planished true, and each joint is TIG welded for penetration rather than appearance alone. The result is a machine that is lighter, tighter and unmistakably yours.

Technical Engineering

Architectural metal work, welding and blacksmithing backed by 30+ years on the floor and a master's degree in engineering — from table bases to outdoor railings.

Loads are calculated before steel is cut. Drawings are dimensioned, tolerances are stated, and finishes are specified to the environment the piece will live in — so a railing that faces a Toronto winter behaves exactly like the one detailed on paper.

Methodology

Engineering discipline, applied by hand.

After graduating with a master's degree in engineering in 2011, Brian set out to turn an old weathered Suzuki SV650 into a naked bike. Inspired by the new wave of custom motorcycles, the project soon evolved into a full-scale vintage-esque streetfighter build. The passion grew to an obsession — and led to the birth of Motobrix.

Today that same shop focuses on custom motorcycles alongside custom metal work for furniture and architecture, with Root 2 Engineering bringing over 30 years of experience in architectural metal work, welding and blacksmithing to custom metal projects of all types, from table bases to outdoor railings, in steel, aluminium and other metals.

Consultation

We start with intent: the machine or the space, how it will be used, and the tolerances it has to hold. Nothing is quoted before it is understood.

Engineering

Loads, geometry and material selection are worked out on paper and in CAD. Frames are modelled, brackets are stress-checked, finishes are specified.

Fabrication

Stock is cut, notched and fixtured. Panels are hand-formed and planished. Every weld is laid for penetration, then dressed only where it should be seen.
